The Tyrolean Zugspitz Arena kicks off its winter season on December 4, 2026, with the opening of the Tyrolean Zugspitzbahn cable car. The Ehrwalder Almbahn cable car and the Grubigstein ski area in Lermoos will follow on December 11. Seven ski areas, three certified Tyrolean family ski areas, and a diverse winter program off the slopes invite visitors to explore the region around the Zugspitze. New this winter are the AktivPass for guests, which combines six regional leisure activities, and the Nordic Park Zugspitze between Ehrwald and Lermoos.

The Tyrolean Zugspitz Arena unites the seven villages of Ehrwald, Lermoos, Berwang, Bichlbach/Lähn-Wengle, Biberwier, Heiterwang am See, and Namlos, offering everything that makes for a perfect winter holiday: diverse ski areas, tranquil winter landscapes, perfectly groomed and snow-sure cross-country ski trails, winter hiking paths, and cozy mountain huts. The new AktivPass expands the region's leisure activities, granting guests easy year-round access to six indoor and outdoor recreational facilities – including the new family swimming pool in Ehrwald, the Ehrwald climbing and tennis hall, the Lermoos panoramic pool, and the Ehrwald ice rink. The AktivPass is available at participating accommodations.

One destination, seven ski resorts

Discover a different ski area every day: The seven ski areas of the Tiroler Zugspitz Arena – Ehrwalder Alm (from December 11, 2026), Ehrwalder Wettersteinbahnen (tbd), Grubigstein Lermoos (from December 11, 2026), Marienberg Biberwier (from December 18, 2026), Berwang-Bichlbach (from December 18, 2026), Karlift Heiterwang (date to be announced), and the Zugspitze ski area (from December 4, 2026 via the Tiroler Zugspitzbahn) – offer variety for families, leisurely skiers, and active sports enthusiasts. With Ehrwalder Alm, the Ehrwalder Wettersteinbahnen, and the Berwang-Bichlbach ski area, three certified Tyrolean family ski areas in the region invite you to make your first turns on the slopes. The selection becomes even greater with the Top Snow Card: It grants access to around 90 lifts and more than 200 kilometers of slopes on the Austrian and German sides of the Zugspitze.

Snow and fun parks in the Ehrwalder Alm ski area provide extra fun on the slopes for skiers of all skill levels. Even after dark, the region remains active: In Ehrwald and Berwang, illuminated and freshly groomed slopes invite skiers to enjoy night skiing on selected evenings.

Winter diversity off the slopes

Even away from the ski slopes, the winter landscape around the Zugspitze can be actively explored. The Tyrolean Zugspitz Arena is one of Tyrol's most diverse cross-country skiing regions. The classic cross-country and skating trails at altitudes of 1,000 to 1,300 meters are free of charge and are regularly groomed. New this year is the Nordic Park Zugspitze between Ehrwald and Lermoos, offering practice opportunities for beginners, a biathlon course with laser rifles, introductory courses, and a cross-country skiing area for children. In addition, the region offers over 60 kilometers of well-maintained winter hiking trails and varied snowshoe tours, providing ample opportunities for exploration on foot. For family adventures, four of the seven digital adventure trails are accessible even in winter, combining outdoor activity with audio guides, videos, puzzles, and mini-games. Further variety is guaranteed thanks to snow-sure toboggan runs, a well-maintained ice skating rink, horse-drawn sleigh rides, and guided torchlight and llama treks.

Even in bad weather, the Tiroler Zugspitz Arena offers opportunities for exercise and relaxation. The Ehrwald climbing and tennis hall is open year-round, and the new family swimming pool invites visitors of all ages to relax and enjoy the water from mid-November.

Ski bus connections ensure easy mobility between the villages and winter activities; these can be used free of charge with the guest card or a valid ski pass within the region. Further information is available at [website address]. zugspitzarena.com/winter-experience.
