The new cable car to the Aineck mountain represents a quantum leap in the transport of skiers and snowboarders to the Salzburg side of the ski area.

Since 2011, the Ski Guide Austria team has been awarding "Ski Guide Austria Awards" for innovative ideas, creative initiatives, or outstanding investments that give ski resorts unique selling points and boost Austrian winter sports. In the 17th year of the Ski Guide Austria, the jury once again found what they were looking for in terms of innovative ideas, creative initiatives, or outstanding investments. One of the three winners is Katschbergbahnen GmbH, which receives the Ski Guide Austria Award for the continuous development of the cross-border Carinthian ski area in terms of quality, offerings, and infrastructure – especially for the new Almbahn gondola lift to the Aineck mountain, which replaces the old three-seater chairlift.

The new Almbahn cable car represents a milestone in terms of comfort and wind stability, as well as a significant improvement to the connection on the Salzburg side of the ski area. The sustainable aspect of the investment is also noteworthy, thanks to its energy-saving drive system, speed-controlled capacity management, and the recycling of materials from the old valley station.

Josef Bogensberger Jr., managing director of the family-run Katschberg cable cars, explained at the handover ceremony: „We have invested 16.5 million euros in the new cable car – the largest investment since the construction of the Silverjet 1 in 2019, which cost ten million euros.“ Bogensberger was presented with the Ski Guide Austria Award by Ski Guide Austria publisher Günter Fritz, who then took the opportunity to thoroughly test the new Almbahn cable car.
