Ischgl-Samnaun + Paznaun (mit Galtür, See, Kappl)

    Ischgl-Galtür-Kappl-See in Paznaun
Now you can also swing from Kappl to See

Those from Paznaun speaks, the first thing that comes to mind is Ischgl. And many people who talk about Ischgl do not primarily think of skiing. Neither approach is always appropriate. Big concerts have long since returned – Demi Lovato will bring Hollywood flair to the mountains for the opening, but partying has taken a back seat – and we are not party guides. But before we finally turn our attention to the slopes, let's take a quick detour to the other side of the valley, where the mountain railways have been building underground in recent years. The project cost 75 million euros – energy-saving, as they swear, with heat recovery systems – and has a water surface of over 1,000 m2 on each of four floors in two buildings, a water world with a children's pool, brine pool, sports pool, adventure pool, whirlpool grotto and outdoor pool, and plenty of warm rooms. As a contrast, a 1,300 m2 ice rink runs around the complex.

The offer Of course, the 75 lifts would be enough to fill a holiday, so no new ones need to be built in Ischgl. Every year, work is carried out to improve the snowmaking system so that the conditions are optimal. Galtür in particular offers a number of highlights for a skiing holiday. There are the deep snow slopes below the Ballunspitze or from the Saggrat, with a view of the reservoir reminiscent of a Norwegian fjord. But if you are not so keen on the powder below the Silvretta, which is often found here, you can have great fun on one of the best floodlit slopes in the country, although it is bathed in a very yellowish light.

Kappl is ski-friendly has long been top as well. No one should miss the Blanken variant from the Lattenjoch. The Lattenabfahrt is a demanding 8 km long descent. For families, there is still the insider tip of See in Paznaun. Last winter, the only new cable car was opened here, an 8-seater gondola that takes winter sports enthusiasts to an altitude of 2,570 m to the start of a new easy descent (1.2 km). As a result, a ticket association for Kappl and See was finally implemented this winter. The two top family ski areas are now united in every respect. Of course, Ischgl with its upscale hotels and restaurants remains the hit of the valley. The skiing technique is very different from many high alpine regions.

Because predominantly Skiing takes place on wide alpine meadows that invite you to have fun. There are hardly any adventurous slopes, but you have to know the cross-border ski area pretty well. Taking a guide at the ski school is never a bad idea. The Piz Val Gronda area, which is accessible via a large gondola, only has one slope that is hardly different from the others, but as a freerider you have a relatively low-risk playground in the Tyrolean-Swiss border region. Perhaps with the Heidelberger Hut as your destination. The extreme fun park awaits you on the Idalpe, and the almost endless slopes to Samnaun and Ischgl are also thrilling, with the Vesil (7) at the end, a perfect alternative to the endless "Eleven" slope, which is often overcrowded after 3 p.m.
