    Stubai Valley
    connection to glacier and city

Schlick 2000, Elfer, Serles liftsWhile the Stubai Glacier is etched into the mind and heart of every skier, the smaller ski areas in the Stubai Valley are more of an insider tip. They often only come into play when it gets too stormy in the glacier regions. But sometimes they are also used when the 30 kilometers from the Brenner motorway exit to the glacier cable car are too long on weekends. Coming into the Stubai Valley, you soon turn left to the Serles lifts (Mieders) or shortly afterwards right via Telfes to the valley station of the really powerful gondola to the Schlick 2000. Most recently, Fulpmes decided to take luck into its own hands and invested heavily. The 4-seater panoramic chairlift to the Kreuzjoch and the black "Panoramaschuss" piste and the red "Hohes Laub-Abfahrt" have greatly enhanced the ski area under the steep Kalkkögel mountains. The expanded snowmaking not only benefits these fresh runs, but also pistes 2, 3a, 4a and 4c of the Schlick 2000. This means that the outermost pistes, which lead closest to the Kalkkögel, are no longer "pure nature". However, the natural experience of 4c is still first-class due to the steep walls. And it is also well suited for the less daring.

Invested was built for this winter in Schlick 2000. The new Galtberg cable car not only brings more comfort, but also simplifications especially for ski schools and beginners and the cable car is also a little longer - and of course you get to the top quicker. With a capacity of up to 2,000 people per hour, waiting times should be a thing of the past. In general, runs in Schlick offer little difference in altitude, but are certainly varied. Snowboarders should avoid the valley run, which is ultra-flat at times. The skiing challenges of Schlick can be found away from the pistes anyway. Ski route 1 from Kreuzjoch to Schlicker Alm is clearly number one in this sector, although there are several variants to try out depending on the snow conditions.

The special thing about Schlick 2000 is the striking snow reliability. This is also because until mid-January the sun does not even overcome the peaks at midday and the slopes face north. It is just a pity that the huts are also in the shade, but they are pleasant inside and in terms of cuisine. For example the Galtalm, which can be reached through the forest, but also with a regular half-hourly ratrac service from 11.30 a.m. Right next to the beautiful Serles rock pyramid, near Mieders, the first town in the Stubai Valley, you will find an extremely manageable ski area which, in our opinion, is primarily suitable for beginners and those returning to skiing. On the shadier left side of the valley, the Serles and Elfer lifts are popular starting points for high alpine ski tours, but also offer steep descents into the valley and more practice slopes at the top. But what makes the Stubai Valley special is that away from the pistes, the Stubai Valley has a total of ten toboggan runs up to eight kilometres long that provide no less sporty après-ski. The floodlight times are sensibly divided between Neustift, Mieders, Schönberg and Schlick 2000.

With city connection: Anyone who purchases the Ski plus City Pass has what is said to be a unique holiday combination in the world: the pass is not only valid in the Stubai and nine other ski areas, but also allows you to visit 23 sights in the Innsbruck region. These include the Crystal Worlds, Amras Castle, Hall Mint and the Berg Isel ski jump. But also two swimming pools and - except in snowy or icy conditions - a bike rental in Innsbruck are included.
