Seefeld mit Leutasch

    Seefeld
picture book with a focus on cross-country skiing

Nordic winter sports is the focus of attention year after year on the plateau at 1,200 meters. After the Nordic World Ski Championships in 2019, World Cups regularly bring life to the area in January. But with these enormous cross-country ski trail capacities, there is always more than enough space for everyone. As a popular training center, the successful "local eagles" often test their skills here in winter, as do their colleagues from neighboring countries. You can now admire them from the World Cup tower, which resembles a glass hunting stand. Stars of the cross-country skiing and biathlon scene are permanent guests here anyway and can be recognized by their breathtaking cross-country ski speed. But for most other visitors, the main sporting activity takes place at the starting point of the cross-country ski trails in the stadium. It is clear that this offer, which includes numerous infrastructures in addition to the always perfectly groomed trails, is a costly affair. It is cheaper if you stay overnight in the region. Every day, hordes of runners flock to tackle the unmissable trails leading into the Leutasch Valley. Nowhere else can you find so many cross-country skiing schools and beginners. In order to improve skills, a new, varied training opportunity has been created for curves, inclines, descents, balance and the perfect cross-country skiing technique. The new off-road course will be prepared for guests and locals from the start of the season on the A1 trail at Seekirchl.

A social center like Seefeld does not have to boast of steep slopes. Which is not to say that there are no slopes. Guests for whom a "red" is already a maximum challenge will get their money's worth. At the start of the week, there is a lot of activity at the valley station of the Rosshütte cable car, where Sportis Kinderland offers a perfect area for beginners on 20,000 m2 (with separate ticket control). A real rarity. Action can be found in the Rosshütte/Härmelekopf ski area, where the fun park has been further upgraded. The jump heights into the air-filled landing pad are between five and nine meters! But not everyone needs pure action; for beginners, even a mini slope is sometimes enough to make beads of sweat appear on their foreheads. Alpine skiers and boarders with higher sporting demands can enjoy the hard slopes, especially on the Härmelekopf and below the Seefelder Joch. The nostalgic gondola ride up to the Seefelder Joch is history; the new cable car now meets all requirements. A separate “Gupf” at the other end of the village is the Gschwandtkopf, which faces north-east and is usually perfectly snow-covered. After a rest at the Edelhütte or Sonnenalm, you can head down into the valley over the extremely wide, groomed slope.

But many enjoy simply the winter romance in the pedestrian zone and around Seefeld Church. A second special feature is the well-kept luxury hotel industry. Those who prefer something less sophisticated might want to stay in one of the many districts of the more tranquil Leutasch, while in Seefeld people stroll in the evenings and the casino never goes in vain for adventurers.
