Lienz

At the time of going to press, the Hochstein ski area was planning to close its third section (tow lift) for cost reasons. The reason for this is the high degree of snow uncertainty due to a lack of snowmaking. It's a shame about what is perhaps the best part of Lienz's local mountain for sports, which is accessible via a modern gondola at the bottom and an old double chair lift above. The second, sun-drenched ski area, Zettersfeld, whose slopes are almost entirely suitable for families and where freestylers can let off steam in the Sunsite Park, is more modern. A single ski pass is valid in both ski areas. Approx. 30 km of slopes. 9 lifts.
