Großarltal, Dorfgastein
New cable car and new slopes, with the national park in view

The winter of 2023/24 will be a very special one for Grossarl: Around 70 million euros were invested in the new 10-person cable car and - the even bigger sensation - additional slopes. Including accompanying ecological measures, a sports shop with a modern ski depot and a cozy summit restaurant. The new Kieserlbahn was built on the site of the former 8-person Hochbrand cable car in just nine months. It leads via a middle station in just 15 minutes from the valley over more than 1,000 meters in altitude directly up to the summit plateau of the Kieserl (1,954 m), a hill between Fulseck and Schuhflicker. It thus opens up the Roslehenalm ski area on the Grossarl side with wonderful snow-sure slopes.

New slopes with history: In the 1970s there was a drag lift here, and in the 1930s Grossarl's first ski resort was here. And TV legend Sepp Forcher once ran the Bergland ski lodge here. Also new is a second, direct ski connection from Kieserl to Dorfgastein. The two towns of Grossarl and Dorfgastein are growing even closer together via the Kieserl hub.

Included Everyone will find their "favorite spot" in the Grossarltal. The Fischbacher adventure meadow is now a free entry point to winter sports fun. Where the cable car used to be, there is now a place for young and old to romp around: on the practice meadow, the platter lift, the conveyor belt that pedestrians can also use, the tubing carousel or the wave track. All kinds of sliding equipment is used here. Better skiers can take the gondola up in the morning without stress. The hotels are concentrated in the Unterberg district and from here two lifts lead up in two stages each. At the top, four rest areas (named Wilderer-, Sonnen-, Servus- and Naturplatzl) await you close to the piste where you can rest without consumption. But they will come later, because the Kreuzkogel must be skied first. Carvers feel at home under these chair lifts, and there are often untracked areas to discover on the edge.

Kreuzkogel and Fulseck The two 2,000-meter-high "parallel peaks" are equally developed, and for several years the slopes to Dorfgastein have been widened, properly snowed and well groomed. More adventure awaits those who descend from Fulseck towards Grossarltal. Away from the intermediate main piste, the marked Bergland ski route leads to the Alpentaverne. While day skiers can also get into the swing via Dorfgastein, vacationers prefer the high quality of the hotels in Grossarltal, which are upgraded every year.
