Feuerkogel – Ebensee

    Feuerkogel – Ebensee
    plateau for all occasions

The Feuerkogel in the Salzkammergut offers the ideal environment for teaching children to ski on a family holiday. At the same time, it shows even experienced skiers how many ways the white splendour of winter can be fun. The Feuerkogel cable car in Ebensee takes you up to the high plateau, which with its enclosed plateau is the ideal environment for gently introducing children to the world of piste sports. Anyone who does winter sports here not only gets the world of piste for families but also an impressive view of the Traunsee far below and the mountains of the Salzkammergut. The Feuerkogel is Upper Austria's sunniest spot, and in addition to a number of beginner- and family-friendly pistes and the fantastic panoramic view all around, it also has four cozy restaurants. And finally, culinary delights are not neglected either. Children born up to 2017 and younger receive a free pass; senior discounts are available for winter sports enthusiasts born in 1963 and above - which is not to be taken for granted either.

alpine skiingBut that's only one side of the coin up here. You can just as easily go snowshoeing or touring on the Feuerkogel. There are four specially designed trails here, on which tours of all levels of difficulty can be undertaken. The routes to the Alberfeldkogel or the Riederhütte are particularly popular. A total of 5 kilometers are available for freeriders and route skiers. For snowshoe hikers, there are specially marked trails - six in total - an equipment rental service directly at the cable car mountain station and sometimes guided tours with an outdoor specialist. Rental equipment is also available.
Beginners can work on perfecting their turns in a ski course and can rent their equipment beforehand; for the little ones there is a children's area, the dragon park with two conveyor belts, a new rope lift, seesaw, poles, etc., and for the older ones there is a snow park. Advanced winter sports enthusiasts, on the other hand, can enjoy more than just off the slopes. More ambitious snow fanatics will find the six-kilometer-long, unprepared descent into the valley a special challenge - provided there is enough snow. It is not for nothing that investments have been made this year in quality assurance of the slopes and in optimizing snowmaking. In addition to the cable car, there are seven other lifts and ten kilometers of slopes available.

Conclusion: You can spend a varied day of skiing or a longer winter holiday on the Feuerkogel. If you like the sunny plateau so much that you don't want to go back down to the valley, just stay up there. There is also accommodation here in the middle of the ski area, for example in the Berggasthof Edelweiß.
