Alpbachtal – Wildschönau

    Alpbachtal – Wildschönau
    A little-known (ski) gem

As a ski jewel Alpbachtal Wildschönau This Tyrolean ski area, which spans two valleys, operates. The two valleys - the Alpbachtal and the Wildschönau - with their typical villages have managed to retain their mysterious character. Alpbach in particular has made a name for itself as a dreamy meeting place for international greats with the European Forum and as a valley of thinkers. Despite the authentic romance in winter, the qualities for winter sports are in the foreground.

Am Wiedersberger Horn Sporty slopes for the whole family await you, including a speed check course and a snow park and family park. The latest innovations are also available here. To mark the 10th anniversary of the Ski Juwel Alpbachtal Wildschönau ski area, the Hornlift 2000 was renovated with a detachable 6-seater chairlift with weather protection hood and heated seats. The new Hornbahn 2000 takes you to the highest point of the ski area in under four minutes. Once you reach the top, the new mountain station, "Top of Alpbachtal", has a viewing tower - designed by the Scandinavian architecture stars Snøhetta.

Even more fun in the snow brought the Schatzberg Zwergenland to the ski area. Right at the middle station of the Schatzberg cable car, it is ideal for the first attempts at skiing. There is enough space here for the first steps on skis, or for romping around in the snow. There is a snowball playground, the large Schatzberg IGLU, a ski carousel and three magic carpets. At the summit of the Schatzberg, a wide field opens up for the skier. Seen from above, two new chair lifts on the right open up several areas of terrain. Specialists walk or glide even further out towards Joel, the small hill in between is called Gern. From there you can swing through the deep snow, a tow path leads back to the piste. The journey from the Schatzberg to Auffach often turns into speed carving. Huts beckon again and again. Many of them look authentic. Instead of an arms race at the lifts, "rest areas" are being created: huts, terraces, but also one of the most exciting fun parks and the well-maintained Race'n' Boarder race track. In the Wildschönau, apart from the ski area, you can also find Oberau with night skiing and its popular night toboggan run, as well as Niederau with its natural "Schwarzer" and equally exciting toboggan run. The only drawback from the Schatzberg towards Inneralpbach: from the middle you can only go down to the valley by gondola.
On the other side of the valley, the Gmahkopf is particularly suitable for families. If the valley run works too - and that is usually the case - it can be a really challenging 1,000 meters of altitude. Those who are more fast-paced like to head for the Wiedersbergerhorn, so that they can plunge down Route 66 to Inneralpbach at least once or twice a day. As the turns on the various slopes in both valleys show: the regularly improved snowmaking systems are doing a great job. Although a phenomenon had already been seen on the grassy mountains: even at the end of the season, the slopes were in much better condition than in some higher regions. In addition, the Reither Kogel, a popular floodlit ski area, awaits at the entrance to the valley.
