Carinthian ski resort is delighted about the Ski Guide Austria award for millions of euros invested in improving the piste infrastructure and expanding the sports mountain.

The Goldeck sports mountain is located directly near Spittal an der Drau and is considered an insider tip among winter sports enthusiasts in Carinthia - not least because extensive investments worth millions have been made for the 2024 season, making the ski area even more attractive. Particularly noteworthy are the new construction of the Goldalm mountain restaurant with top gastronomy at 2,050 meters above sea level, the new Kiss & Ski Area at the valley station of the Goldeckbahn, the new Seeblick piste with a view of Lake Millstatt, the new Glockner piste and the redesign and reopening of the steepest and longest black run in the Alps - the S1.
Projects that were recognized with an award by the Ski Guide Austria team. This award has been given since 2011 for innovative ideas, creative campaigns or outstanding investments that give ski areas unique selling points and Austrian winter sports a boost. The award was recently presented at a small ceremony by Ski Guide Austria publisher and author Dr. Günter Fritz to the marketing manager of Goldeck Bergbahnen GmbH Stefanie Hopfgartner, as well as cashier Christiana Zagler and deputy operations manager Herbert Wiesflecker, who were visibly delighted with the award.
With 30 km of perfectly groomed slopes of all levels of difficulty and a 50 hectare freeride area at an altitude of over 2,100 meters, skiers and snowboarders get their money's worth at Goldeck. An impressive mountain panorama - from Glockner to Triglav - is also included. Beginners benefit from the numerous blue slopes in the open, wide ski area, which offer perfect practice conditions. While Carinthia's highest children's area with an area of 30,000 m² is ideal for beginners and those returning to skiing, anyone looking for a challenge will find what they are looking for on the S1, which is a special experience for experienced skiers under the motto "Black, Steep, Fast". This run leads from the summit at 2,142 meters down to 537 meters and was reopened this year after a break of several years. With a gradient of up to 75 percent, the S1 is the longest black run in the Alps with an altitude difference of over 1,600 meters.
The new Goldalm restaurant - Mountain Dining powered by Wini Brugger - is also worth a try, as it offers modern cuisine of a high standard, away from the usual ski hut fare, at a good price-performance ratio. Also new since this winter season is the "Kiss & Ski" area in the valley station, which makes it easy to unload equipment without having to lug it around for long, as well as the ticket pick-up machine. There are also eight Burgenland Energie charging stations for charging electric cars in the valley station.
