Kitzbühel is known far beyond the country's borders as a destination with tradition and exceptional charm. Especially during Advent, when the over 750-year-old town centre and the city park shine in Christmas splendour during the Kitzbühel Advent.
From now until December 26, 2024 (!), the scent of hot chestnuts and fruit punch is in the air and childhood memories are awakened at the traditional Kitzbühel Advent. Numerous lovingly decorated stalls offer regional delicacies and traditional handicrafts, mulled wine is drunk from specially designed Advent cups, while performances by local choirs and music groups create an atmospheric setting. And there is also a lot for the little ones to experience: at the children's program in the children's craft hut, listening to Christmas fairy tales or taking a ride on the historic carousel. The Christkindl post office in Kitzbühel is something very special. Children, and of course adults too, have the opportunity to send their wish lists directly to the Christ Child at this magical place.
atmospheric program
The wait for Christmas Eve can be shortened for the little ones at the St. Nicholas parade on Friday, December 6, 2024 at 5 p.m., after which the Krampus parade in the Vorderstadt Kitzbühel will provide some spooky moments. The annual highlight is the two live concerts by the well-known Wiltener Sängerknaben, one of the most traditional and renowned boys' choirs in Europe, who will create an atmospheric atmosphere at their performances on Saturday, December 7, 2024.
A special feature and premiere this year is the Christmas music from Kitzbühel. Rosi Schipflinger, better known as the singing landlady, will be singing with Lois and Stephan their Christmas song created especially for Kitzbühel with the promising title "In Kitz do gibt's koa Reindeer". The Tyroleans Marco Macheiner and Peter Neubauer are staging a Christmas setting for the first time in which Wolfgang Ambros can fully express his voice together with some small and large friends. The single "s'Christkind" is being released in cooperation with the ORF campaign "Licht ins Dunkel" and is a freely translated and reinvented version of the now 92-year-old Christmas classic "Santa Claus is coming to Town".
