There's a touch of Alaska in the air when the world's elite in sled dog sports meet in the snow-sure resort of Sportgastein.

A touch of Alaska fills the air when up to 150 participants from around 20 nations gather for the International Sled Dog Race from February 28th to March 1st, 2026. The special feature? Spectators can experience the action up close and free of charge, right next to the track.

In the teams' paddock, the "stake-out," you can watch the mushers as they prepare, tending to their sled dogs, waxing their skis, and harnessing them. Right next to the Valerie House is the start and finish area, where you can admire spectacular starts and cheer on the athletes as they cross the finish line.

Attention: Spectator dogs are not allowed in the stake-out area.
