Austria's biggest snowball fight!

On March 15, 2025, the international Austrian Yukigassen Championships will take place for the second time in Austria.
Yukigassen (Japanese: 雪合戦 'snow fight') is a Japanese team sport based on the principle of a snowball fight (with clear rules). It is already considered a real national sport throughout Asia and is also enjoying huge enthusiasm in Scandinavia.
The Yukigassen World Championships are held annually in Hokkaido (Japan), and the official Yukigassen European Championships are held every year in Lapland (Finland).

The Austrian Yukigassen Association, founded in 2024 and based in Filzmoos, has set out to spread Yukigassen in Austria and Germany from Filzmoos.

There are essentially no prerequisites (just a minimum age of 13), and you need at least 6 players to form a team (a Yukigassen team consists of 7 to 10 players). Protective equipment is provided by the organizer (all you need to bring is warm clothing and sturdy shoes).
