On March 22, 2025, the freeride world will look to Obertauern in Salzburger Land – the venue for the final decision of the Freeride World Tour Challenger Series.
The Challenger Series has been adapted this year, making the competition even fairer and more exciting, and now includes six stops, with each rider's five best results counting towards the overall ranking. Close decisions in previous competitions could Obertauern A heart-stopping finale is set to take place, as revised rules allow the previous season's best athletes to compete directly in the Challenger Series to secure a highly coveted ticket to the World Tour. Riders on the current World Tour are not eligible – unless they receive a one-time wildcard.
Who will make it to the premier league? After the finale in Obertauern, it will be determined which riders will advance to the 2026 Freeride World Tour. A total of four men's skis, two women's skis, two men's snowboards, and one woman's snowboard will make the leap to the premier class and compete against the world's best freeriders. The Challenger Series rules were revised in close consultation with the riders to best incorporate their input and ensure a fair and exciting series.
The Event Village invites you to linger with its fantastic setup: visitors can look forward to an ice tea bar, a food truck, a large video wall for public viewing, and ski and snowboard tests – perfect freeride vibes guaranteed! The final "confirmed" contest date will be published on the Open Faces Series social media platforms and those of the Freeride World Tour.
