34 years after the legendary “Sun World Championships” of 1991, the FIS Alpine Ski World Championships will take place again in Saalbach in February 2025.
From 4 to 16 February 2025, Saalbach will once again be transformed into the Center of international skiing. "The anticipation is huge - together we want to keep the enthusiasm for skiing in Austria high and at the same time set sustainable impulses for future generations as well as Saalbach and the Salzburg region," says Florian Phleps, project manager of Saalbach 2025.
The heart of the 2025 World Cup is the innovative concept of “One mountain – all competitions”. All races will take place on the Zwölferkogel in Hinterglemm, which combines all the World Cup slopes on one mountain and offers a central finish area for all disciplines. A total of 11 medal decisions will be held here, and all the action will be concentrated in the center of Hinterglemm. Thanks to the short distances, all important locations are within walking distance, which means a special convenience for spectators and participants. Ski fans will also be well looked after: public skiing will remain possible without restrictions throughout the entire event. Fans from Salzburger Land and Tyrol have the opportunity to arrive directly on skis via the slopes. Thanks to the modern infrastructure of the
Guests of the Skicircus Saalbach Hinterglemm Leogang Fieberbrunn can easily enter the ski area and ski directly to the race on the Zwölferkogel without having to look for a parking space.
The FIS Alpine World Ski Championships 2025 are setting a clear example for sustainability and aim to be seen as a green benchmark for future sporting events. Short distances, a modern cable car and piste infrastructure and the accessibility of all event hotspots on foot are central elements of the sustainability concept. In addition, special attention is paid to environmentally friendly travel options - be it by public transport or on skis. The principles of REDUCE, RE-USE and RECYCLE are consistently implemented in all structural measures.
