Start of the season and opening of the combination cable car “Peter Anich III” at Rangger Köpfl

There aren't too many new cable cars in our area anymore. On the Rangger Köpfl, above Oberperfuss, a new combination cable car was officially opened to mark the start of the season. It wouldn't be Tyrol if "inaugurated" wasn't the correct term. With the governor, blessing and 100-strong children's choir, which even sang a specially composed song for the 3rd section of the cable cars up the Rangger Köpfl.

Until last year, a steep and long drag lift transported skiers to the Glatzkopf above the Inn Valley. On some days, more ski tourers are said to have been drawn to the popular peak above the Inn Valley than drag lift users. With the comfortable combination lift (6-seater chairs and 8-seater gondolas), there will again be numerous alpine skiers who will be drawn down the slope, which is very wide in places. With construction costs of 8.2 million euros, the 3rd section of the lift, which leads from 1,597 m to 1,939 m, is a considerable investment that is also expected to delight summer guests.

Thanks to the impressive snowmaking system, the slopes are in good condition most of the winter months, at least up to the valley station of the second section - Stiglreith. The gradient of the upper section is very attractive, while in the second section, less experienced ski fans in particular can enjoy the perfect practice terrain. When we inspected the area on opening day, the upper slope was certainly perfect for long carving.

In any case, brilliant winter weather on December 13, 2024 provided the setting for the opening of the new Peter Anich III combined cable car on the Rangger Köpfl. The children from the two elementary schools and the Oberperfuss music band provided the musical accompaniment. In his opening speech, Governor Anton Mattle emphasized that projects like this are crucial for the tourism sector in Tyrol and increase the quality of the offer: "The Oberperfuss cable cars are a showcase example of our small-scale family ski areas, which offer affordable and attractive winter sports for both locals and guests. Skiing is more than a sport - it is part of Tyrolean tradition and identity. In this context, we in the state of Tyrol are also supporting a large-scale school ski campaign, for example, in order to create inexpensive offers and thus emphasize the enthusiasm for skiing among schoolchildren. In this spirit, I would like to congratulate the municipality of Oberperfuss and the local cable cars on the completion of the Peter Anich III combined cable car."

"With the new cable car, we now have three state-of-the-art cable cars, a platter lift and a magic carpet, which together are perfect for first turns. With our combination cable car 'Peter Anich III', we now have decades of planning security and the best possible transport comfort. We see ourselves as a winter sports mountain and try to give guests a great mountain experience - whether in winter or summer," says Manuel Hujara, Managing Director of the Oberperfuss cable cars. The combination cable car, supplied by the Vorarlberg company Doppelmayr, consists of six-seater chairlifts and eight-seater gondolas. "Not all skiers want to take off their skis and get into a gondola," says Peter Lingenhel, area sales manager at Doppelmayr cable cars. Combination cable cars have advantages, especially on mountains where several different sports are practiced. In his opinion, the Rangger Köpfl is particularly well suited to this type of lift, as it is a popular destination not only for skiers, but also for tobogganers, ski tourers and winter hikers. The financing of the cable car, which was built in just six months, was secured through a combination of the Bergbahnen Oberperfuss GmbH's own funds, grants from the owners, the municipality of Oberperfuss and Innsbruck Tourism, state funding and a bank loan.
