The Pitztal Wild Face is a timed race, not judged based on the line skied, as is usual at Freeride World Qualifier events. A competitive run is held on the north face of the Mittagskogel, and 100 riders can participate. Starting numbers are assigned at the Riders' Meeting after the mandatory course inspection the day before. There are four different categories: men's and women's skiing, and men's and women's snowboarding. Since 2013, the Pitztal Wild Face has been held as a Freeride World Qualifier event under the Freeride World Tour umbrella.
