Stuhleck, the largest and most modern ski resort in eastern Austria, has ceremoniously opened the 2025/26 ski season – with an impressive celebrity giant slalom and a show act by Matakustix.
The Stuhleck The VIP opening on December 11th presented itself in its most beautiful light: brilliant sunshine, perfect conditions, truly glorious weather. A new visitor record was also set, suggesting a promising winter season and reflecting the very special atmosphere of the day.
Star-studded lineup at the VIP giant slalom
The traditional VIP giant slalom promised pure excitement once again in 2025. Numerous prominent participants, including Austrian comedian Thomas Bröckl, actor Albert Fortell, radio host Udo Huber, Mr. Ferrari Heribert Kasper, goalkeeping legend Michael Konsel, tennis player Stefan Koubek, former figure skater Claudia Kristofics-Binder, musician Andy Lee Lang, presenter Norbert Oberhauser, former TV presenter Markus Pohanka, actor Christian Spatzek, singer Charlotte Ludwig, PR consultant Marion Finger, the cabaret duo Flo & Wisch (David Krammer and Florian Röhlich), musician Simon Lewis, screenwriter Gregor Barcal, Ski Guide Austria publisher Günter Fritz, cabaret artist Isabell Pannagl, cabaret artist and actor Christoph Fälbl, cabaret artist Gerald Fleischhacker, and former professional footballer Walter Schachner, demonstrated their skills on two skis – with passion, speed, and a good dose of style.
The 2025 rankings
Isabell Pannagl and Flo & Wisch clearly won the VIP giant slalom. New this season was the racing discipline “YOONERN” – Andy Lee Lang won this special category.
This year's musical highlight was the energetic show act MATAKUSTIX, which thrilled the audience with its unique sound.

A warm welcome from host Fabrice Girardoni
Fabrice Girardoni, managing director of the Stuhleck mountain lifts, was delighted with the successful start. The excellent conditions and the early onset of winter made it possible to open the ski area at the beginning of December.
The "celebrity cable car": the exclusive chairlift
The popular "celebrity chairlift" was expanded again in 2025. The decorated chairs, bearing the names of well-known personalities, once again gained prominent new members this year. Matthias Ortner of Matakustix can now enjoy his own "chair" in the Stuhleck ski area.
