The classic "White Ring" circuit around Lech and Z\u00fcrs is already a considerable undertaking. However, if you participate in the public race, tackling the approximately 22 km course with its 5,500 meters of elevation gain, the whole thing is over in an hour. And there's still plenty of time to ski at least part of the "Run of Fame" and experience the sheer scale of the Arlberg ski area.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The 20th anniversary of "The White Ring \u2013 The Race" took place under brilliant sunshine and mostly excellent slope conditions. And what other race offers such a wonderful alpine backdrop? The race includes lift rides, making it less physically demanding. On the downhill section, the amateur racers can then let loose on the closed slope.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

As in the previous year, the race followed the tried and tested course of approximately 22 km with an altitude difference of 5,500 meters, including the neutralization of the Madloch section. The challenging course once again demanded the utmost concentration, endurance, and confident line choice from the participants, confirming the "White Ring \u2013 The Race" as an exceptional sporting event in the alpine ski racing calendar.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

In the women's race, Swiss skier Nicole Str\u00e4ssle-Frei, starting with bib number 47, secured the victory with a time of 53:18.40 minutes. Last year's winner, Paulina Wirth, once again delivered a strong performance, finishing in second place. The men's race was won again by last year's champion, Cornelius Deuring \u2013 with a winning time of 52:45.19 minutes, the Austrian impressively confirmed his class. The 2026 anniversary race once again proved to be a unique blend of sporting ambition, alpine challenge, and cherished tradition. And, of course, a great party was always part of the experience.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

After the race, Fred Fettner (time: 58:39.29), the invited author of the Ski Guide Austria, still had plenty of time to enjoy part of the \u201cRun of Fame\u201d \u2013 and St. Anton and the Albona aren't the only wonderful options. This year's visit also led to the following tip for all Arlberg visitors: Ideally, take the Auenfeld-Jet gondola up to Warth at least once during your stay. It's not just a scenic experience; several black-marked runs await you at the Salober, which, due to their northerly aspect, often boast fantastic snow conditions well into spring.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
